Share Your Silence

Hearing another person speak your life to you is scary and amazing at the same time. Scary because some realities of you are known, unhidden. And some things you thought you would never tell are now known by someone else. In a way, they take the burden by simply knowing a little bit of what you’re carrying. You can feel a sense of relief that you no longer have to hold it as a secret. But it’s scary in the way that someone else knows that reality about you. And it’s easy to get in your head and wonder, hope, and pray that they don’t tell people, out of context, what they now know about you. Or you worry that they want to start avoiding you because of all the baggage you carry.

The amazing part of it is that you had the courage to let someone else into the hell of your life story. Having courage in this healing journey is an amazing feat in itself. More likely you didn’t release this personal, private information about yourself with ease. You may have had to dig deep to push yourself to open your mouth, use your voice and say words you fought to hold in. You did it, even with an unknown outcome. Not knowing what or how they would react. You let them have a peek at what had a role in forming and shaping you into the person you are now.
